Homecoming Win

Laurier football coach Gary Jeffries, is hoisted by his Golden Hawks after the teams Homecoming win of 51 to 16 over the Ottawa Gee-Gees.
I'm flattered to say that again this year I wan nominated for and won a Canadian Community Newspaper Award.

In the category of Best Campus Photography, my "Homecoming Win" photo came in third place, behind Paul Wayne from Western News and Bernarda Gospic from The Varsity who took first.

Congratulations to both of them, I tried to find their blogs and actual winning photos to link to but was unsuccessful.

Get a Grip?

Canon 5D MK II and best buddy BG-E6 battery grip
Today my doorbell rang around 10am and I giddily jumped off the couch, rushing down three floors to meet the postman. Last week I ordered a few things (all camera or photo related now that I think about it) and I was excited to see which it was. I knew immediately, the return address was from Quebec so it could only be the battery grip for my 5D!

Farewell Jack

Olivia Chow looks on as Jack Layton's casket leaves Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto, August 27, 2011.
I never wrote a post about being at Jack Layton's funeral in August. I was there as a journalist, and detached myself from the emotion of the event so I could do my job, but after when I reflected, I had a difficult time solidifying what I felt about the day. I still do.

Back in the saddle

Okay, so, I suck. No not just because I have a douchy photo of me photo at the beginning of this post, and no not just because I'm using it to show off my 5D MK II. I suck because this is the first post since October.

Close Call

Well they say a picture is worth a thousand words, but if I has to do a word count on this one I think it would only come to two: "Oh shit."

Blog issues...

I'm a do it!!!!
I'd just like to apologize for the shape my blog is currently in.

I had an issue a month or so ago where all of my photos were deleted and I have been trying to remedy it since. To make matters worse, the backup drive where most of the photos I have used here are stored has been giving me problems, much to my terror.

Luck seems to be back on my side though as I was able to access it today so I will be working backwards to fix all of the missing photos as fast as possible.

Tiesto takes on Waterloo

Tiesto takes to the stage at Beta in Waterloo.
Earlier this week I got the opportunity to do two cool things at once. One: get my cameras into BETA nightclub and Two: experience Tiesto live. I've been going to BETA for a few months now and I really love the atmosphere; the club offers a friendly environment, a kick ass sound and light system and hosts some of the worlds hottest DJ's.
